About PlayVessel
Welcome aboard our vessel. We hope you enjoy the journey!
What is PlayVessel?
PlayVessel is a gaming backlog tracker that offers a place for you to track the games that you are playing or want to play. Sorting your games into categories or lists encourages you to actually complete the games you buy rather than letting them collect dust on your shelf (virtual or otherwise!). It works on the principle of alleviating "choice paralysis" which is a big issue for those of us with hundreds of games available but still not knowing "what should I play?". Aside from the lists and backlog features, we provide rich data that allows you to see more information about games than ever before in a simple, cohesive interface.
Who created PlayVessel?
Hello! I'm Charles Stello, I go by Charley or more commonly online, Syntaxis (you can find my profile on PlayVessel!). I'm a developer based in Charleston, SC and I created PlayVessel as my solution to my own challenge of managing my gaming backlog while also improving my skills as a web developer and building a community. It's important to me that PlayVessel becomes successful and helps you actually finish the games you buy. I didn't create PlayVessel to make me a ton of money; I created it because I believe in it. While it will remain ad-free for as long as I am able, the costs and difficulties of managing a website do not change just because I believe in it. This is why I created a Patreon page to accept donations from all who want to support this website. Currently, donations do not provide anything other than my gratitude, but eventually, I want to transform these donations into a type of subscription to provide more exclusive features to my users. The core functionality of PlayVessel will always remain free and the main purpose of these subscriptions/donations will be to help run the site, but I do want to eventually provide something of value to you for donating. I'm dedicated to this site and I want it to become useful to you. My dream is to provide value and make just one person's life better through my websites—I hope that person is you. Join me on this journey and let's appreciate the art form that is gaming together!
